The living room features a raised up area at one end with picture windows overlooking the courtyard garden. Situated in the heart of the village of Othery, and with easy access to the M5, it is ideally placed for touring the surrounding Quantock and Mendip Hills, Exmoor, the caves and gorges at Cheddar and Wookey, and the coastal resorts of West Somerset and North Devon. Nearby Bridgwater is a lively town, once by the sea and a major port, today retaining the quay and the Bridgwater Canal. Scenic walks and cycling are possible along its towpaths. Autumn visitors can catch the famous carnivals, with their magnificent illuminated floats, in both Bridgwater and Taunton. The Willows and Wetlands Visitor Centre shows how the Somerset Levels were drained and offer a fascinating insight into the wildlife and industry of the area. Only 10 miles away is the mystical town of Glastonbury with its abbey and famous Tor. Wells, the smallest city in England also has a magnificent abbey, and medieval Bishop’s Palace. Clark’s Village is an outlet designer retail shopping area, and there are many historic houses to visit such as Barrington Court, Coleridge Cottage, Forde Abbey and Montacute House.
