It was once the home of Henry Fielding and has been sympathetically and stylishly furnished to offer an ideal, peaceful holiday base from which to explore this exciting city. Bath is renowned for its architectural treasures, in particular The Royal Crescent, The Circus, Pump Room and Pulteney Bridge, and the entire city has been designated a World Heritage Site. Other famous attractions include the Roman Baths, the 15th-century abbey, and the recent arrival of the Thermae Bath Spa with open air rooftop pool. There is a year round calendar of festivals and cultural events, and a huge array of cafés, bars and restaurants to choose from. Bath is also famous for its large selection of quality independent shops. The canal and River Avon both run through the heart of the city, and their footpaths offer excellent cycling, walking and boating opportunities. Further afield, one can easily reach Longleat, Cheddar, the cathedral city of Wells and Glastonbury, and there are many National Trust houses and gardens in the area such as Dyrham Park, Stourhead, and Lacock Abbey.
