Located in a breathtaking riverside setting, Fladbury Mill faces another property across the picturesque River Avon Weir, a few miles from the towns of Evesham and Pershore. The owners’ annexe is attached to the property and apart from use of the Fladbury Mill’s own garden, visitors can enjoy 12 acres of natural grounds and water meadow where sheep graze.<br />Settled since Saxon times and mentioned in the Domesday book, Charles I passed through the village in 1644 on his way to the Battle of Worcester. However, it was in the early 18th century that the village and immediate area became a thriving concern when the River Avon was widened and made more navigable. Today it is an active and progressive market gardening district famed for its orchards and famous local spring blossom trail. An annual flower festival and walkabout take place in the village in July, while the Wychavon Way can take the energetic and leisurely walkers alike through many miles of beautiful, rural countryside. Evesham (where boat trips are available) and Pershore are historic and interesting with specialist shopping and farmers markets to delight the visitors, as will the picturesque town of Stratford-upon-Avon, home of the famous bard William Shakespeare. Enthusiasts will delight in the wealth of theatres and restored properties linked to him in and around the town, whilst the riverside gardens and many excellent shops, pubs and restaurants will appeal to all. A little further afield, the splendid castle at Warwick makes for an excellent day out for all the family, with medieval displays such as jousting and use of the trebuchet.
