Situated on an arable dairy farm, and surrounded by open fields, this spacious, modern single-storey house provides the perfect, peaceful holiday retreat, and yet is within two miles of the unspoilt and lively market town of Bradford-on-Avon. The magical appeal of the town’s position on the banks of the River Avon, the Kennett and Avon canal provide many walking, boating and cycling opportunities. Originally an old woollen town many of the large mills on the riverside remain today, with the spinners and weavers cottages balancing at the side of the steep hill through the town. Individual shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes line the narrow streets and the river bank, and a visit to the famous Bridge Tea Rooms, with its authentic Victorian decor and costumed waitresses is a treat not to be missed. The 14th-century tithe barn in the town has been restored and has one of the largest stone roofs in Europe. Take a walk along the river to the steep Avoncliffe Gorge, and marvel at the engineering feat which allows the canal boats which pass over the top of the river and the railway line.<br />The area is rich in stately homes and gardens, some of which include Westwood Manor, Iford Manor and Peto Gardens, Great Chalfield Manor and The Courts. The Roman Spa city of Bath is 5 miles, and other nearby attractions include Lacock Abbey, a favourite location for films such as <em>Harry Potter</em> and <em>Pride and Prejudice</em>, Stonehenge and Longleat Safari Park.
