Bursting with history, this lovely semi-detached Grade II listed holiday cottage stands just below Dolwyddelan Castle, built by Llywelyn the Great (1210-1240). There’s a traditional kitchen/dining room with a slate floor and a woodburner, whilst the adjacent living room has a lovely inglenook open fire. It has a large, enclosed garden with views across the Lledr valley. There are plenty of walks in the area, with the village pub and shop about a mile away. Thrill seekers will love the facilities in nearby Blaenau Ffestiniog, where you can bounce on huge nets in an underground slate cavern, whizz through the air on Europe’s longest zipwire or try your hand at the Antur Stiniog’s Downhill Mountain Bike Trail. From Blaenau, the Welsh Highland Railway will take you on an unforgettable journey with stunning views down to the coast at Porthmadog and beyond to Caernarfon. In the other direction, the pretty village of Betws-y-Coed, the gateway and hub to Snowdonia, has a great choice of cafes and restaurants, and outdoor pursuit shops abound.
